Wow congratulations man!!! I'm not surprised you got in!! :D I'm still patiently waiting. :|
I had applied for Spring '13 but was asked to submit additional works so had to defer to fall...and I had found your stuff back then while trawling the net for Ent.Design applicants :)
Hey Vincent COngratulations on geting in to Art center. I've been lurking in and out of your page for quite a long time for inspiration . lol ... So hey quick question How do you decide the Document size for each page in your design portfolio ,like is there any specific Dimension one needs to follow ? (other than setting it to 300 dpi)
Hey thanks for the kind words. I went with a 2 (width) by 1 (height) ratio because it was just a double square format. I wanted a lot of horizontal room and that seemed like a logical ratio. There is no set requirement as far as I know, experiment and see what you're most comfortable laying out in. For instance this may not be the best format if you don't have the sketches to fill the space up.
Also I'm not sure how much dpi matters. I think mine is only 100 or something. Just make sure its high resolution in terms of pixel font, and when you zoom 100% the text is fairly readable.
Wow great ..That helped. thanks man I'm applying for Spring 2014 and have just started with my portfolio. Just 3 months till deadline ( Oct 1st ) .So Hoping that i can finish it well and submit by first or second week of september .,fingers crossed.
Hey Vincent! Just dropping by to say your portfolio's looking great, and for some (super belated) congratulations for getting into the program. It was actually this portfolio that motivated me to finally start working on mine, and right now it's coming along pretty well. I have a question, though; d'you have any idea about how high scholarships can actually go? Since I'd have to get A LOT of finaid to be able to attend Art Center (if I do actually get in, lulz). Anyway, best of luck with everything!
Conceptart.org is down right now but there was someone on there who said they got a full ride, and another dude with something high like 10k/term, and I know another girl who got something close to that. They were all illustration though, and I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Also, Art Center seems to factor financial need heavily into the scholarship. Best bet if you have questions about the process is to email admissions! Best of luck!
I was wondering, how did you submit the portfolio when it's more than 24 pages? I'm applying right now and it seems the Slideroom online thing only facilitates 24 pages.
Hi! how much scholarship you received with your portfolio ?.. I bet you are one of the people who got highest scholarship in entertainment design so I am curious ;v;
I asked to the admission center and I was told the chance to get scholarship is very, very limited. So I am worried if I will be elidgible for a scholarship with my portfolio ;v; ...
Haha I'm definitely not close to the highest, I've heard of people who have gotten half and even full rides, but those are few and far between.
The scholarship is based on a merit score (strength of portfolio) and a financial score (family income). So if you're really good and really poor you'll probably be set.
Unfortunately I think the only way you'll really find out how much you'll get is to apply haha. E-mail me your portfolio when you're finished, I'd love to see.
Hey man...did you get a reply? I applied for fall '13 too but I haven't heard a word back from them yet. :|
ReplyDeletePS: I've seen your other portfolio too before...'The neverending story' one...this new one is next level man. Hope you got in.
Hey! Yeah I got an acceptance letter a few days ago! haha how'd you find that old one? Stay patient and good luck man!

DeleteDid you apply when you were a high school senior?
ReplyDeleteHi! Sorry probably missed this because of the busyness of school. But yes I applied in my senior year.

At least that's what I think I did. You should email an admissions person and ask them.
DeleteSave as a PDF!
ReplyDeleteYeah that's what I did! Thanks, man. :D
